Tourism is the number one economic driver in Hawai‘i, however it is often difficult for community-based operators to launch and sustain successful businesses.
E Komo Mai No Ka ‘Oi Hale – a 501(c)3 non profit organization based in Kalapana, Hawai‘i – is working to support the establishment of Kalapana Tours, an initiative that will generate employment and entrepreneurship opportunities for local families.
Funds raised will support essential capital expenditure for the launch of the community-owned enterprise, starting with the purchase and preparation of Kalapana Tour’s first van, equipping the Puna District with a locally operated tourism outlet.
